The much talked about no-confidence motion drama that took place on in the Indian parliament was finally put to rest last month. Despite a lack in numbers, the opposition parties had hope of winning the motion with a majority. But their dream fizzled out like the release of air from a balloon. The whole drama was a sheer waste of time and money. It was completely wrong on the part of opposition to move the no-confidence motion when they did not have the numbers.

The motion was in a way, construed in a hurry. When there is just ten months left for the next general elections, was there a need to bring up this motion? Despite knowing that it would melt into thin air, the Congress party’s intentions were made very clear. They were trying to overthrow the Narendra Modi-led Bharitiya Janta Party, without much luck.

The motion was defeated. The Telugu Desam Party’s demands for his state through this No-confidence Motion propelled by the Congress Party was fractured miserably. It is vital that the President of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, was neither prepared for the motion, nor did he do his homework. The speech he made in parliament was rather shallow. There was no consistency and all he did was overly criticise the government. His famous hug and wink stole the show and overshadowed his speech.

What made him to act in such an immature manner? When the incident took place, the other members of parliament present were in a state of shock. Even the speaker of the house looked unprepared. This story made news headlines and everyone was talking about it. Is Rahul Gandhi emotionally transcendent? The hug was viewed in a different political angle by Gandhi’s colleagues. Modi, on his part, rejected the opposition’s charge and said the government was taking steps to protect all sections of the society. All the speeches made were full of doubts and did not give any confidence to the people of the nation. One thing is clear, Rahul Gandhi is on the rise. The BJP needs to wake up and tackle him. The winds are unpredictable and we don’t know who will win in the 2019 elections.
