This is to bring to your notice that First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) is not releasing my end-of-service amount from my previous employer and has forcefully adjusted it against my personal loan. I changed my job in January 2018 and received my end-of-service amount on February 25. I submitted all the relevant documents for my salary account to FAB before the end-of-service amount was credited.

I have also been paying all my instalments against my personal loan on time, without any default. The approximate outstanding is Dh173,000.

The bank has still refused to hand over my end-of-service amount to me and has adjusted the same against my personal loan.

This way, the bank is trying to earn more interest and even partial payment charges, by forcing me to pay this money as partial payment.

I am continuing to pay the equated monthly instalments without default and also prove that I have a job on the same salary scale (or rather, a higher salary) than before, yet I am forced to pay the partial payment. The bank refuses to cooperate with me and is calling and asking me to take a top-up on my existing loan.

I have tried complaining to FAB by personally visiting them at Dalma Mall branch, Abu Dhabi. I also tried calling customer care, but all my efforts have been in vain.

I request Gulf News to come to help me in the best possible way and to highlight this issue to the bank’s top management.

From Mr Jamal Mohammad Kabeer

Abu Dhabi

The management of FAB responds:

FAB supports the growth ambitions of its stakeholders and goes beyond financial products and services, and as such, we are grateful for all customer feedback as we strive to consistently deliver the highest standards of service. The bank has informed Mr Kabeer that the end-of-service gratuity has been transferred to his loan account due to the customer’s increased debt burden ratio, as per the terms and conditions of the loan contract.
