My funds of Dh205,377.35 have been frozen by Adimac-Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) for more than 45 days. I have given all the necessary documents of export/import into another country and an undated security cheque of Dh205,377.35, yet they have not released my funds; they are making me run around for my money and my calls are being ignored.

The reason my funds are stuck with the risk/compliance department, is because I tried to do multiple swipes on the card, which were unsuccessful. The reason they were unsuccessful is due to a security feature built into my clients’ card that doesn’t allow a swipe of more than Dh110,000 and I was trying to swipe more than that. Anyway, after realising this, we then split the transaction into three parts (Dh100,000, Dh85,377.35 and Dh20,000) and the transactions went through. All this happened in the presence of my ADIB Relationship Manager (RM) and he never once warned me that multiple unsuccessful swipes would lead to frozen funds. He was with his operations team over the phone and even they didn’t warn him not to do it. My RM now says he was not aware of these policies as he was a new hire. Anyway, I have since moved to the network point of sale (POS) machine and I am still awaiting my funds from ADIB after I was promised the funds would reflect in my account the day after I give the security cheque. This was one week ago, and the RM who promised me that is no longer answering my phone calls. Please help me, Gulf News.

From Mr Anil Ahuja

The management of ADIB responds:

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This case was already being dealt with, which needed verification documents at the time Gulf News brought this to us. We released the payment as soon as we were able to verify the documents and the case is now closed.

Mr Ahuja responds:

Thank you so much for the intervention, it helped me in a big way.
