DUBAI: A prominent law firm in Dubai has come to the rescue of Indian housemaid Pratibha Prakash Rao, 55, whose plight was highlighted by XPRESS last month.

Pratibha’s identity documents were misused to make her the owner of Nargees Banu Technical Services LLC, a Dubai-based firm which she hasn’t heard of.

Pratibha’s passport which is stamped with an investor’s visa is being held by her employers as a result of which she is unable to return to India.

Following the October 12 XPRESS report, Galadari Advocates and Legal Consultants have stepped forward to offer her pro-bono services.

“We met Pratibha and Juhi Yasmeen Khan of Dar Al Ber Society. We’ve got a Power of Attorney from Pratibha and are handling her case now. We contacted her ex-employer but he refused to take any responsibility. However, we have manged to reach out to the local sponsor of Nargees Banu Technical Services LLC. He has agreed to cancel the company’s partnership agreement with Pratibha and start the visa cancellation process,” said a spokesperson of Galadari Advocates & Legal Consultants.

Ziad Galadari, Chairman, Galadari Advocates and Legal Consultants said: “At Galadari Advocates & Legal Consultants we are proud to enforce the laws, rules and regulations of the UAE regardless of the victim’s status or position and we are determined to clear Pratibha’s name.”
