DUBAI: Over 500 labourer dads who have been toiling in the UAE away from their loved ones back home will be honoured by volunteers from St Mary’s Church in Dubai this weekend.

Father’s Day initiative

The volunteers, who will visit the Khansaheb labour accommodation in the city on July 20, will be undertaking this initiative to mark International Father’s Day and also in line with the Year of Zayed celebrations.

The labourers will be treated to an array of games with a chance to win prizes.

They will also be given daily provisions, including rice, sugar, tea, coffee, biscuits, detergent, disposable razors, deodorants, shower gels and telephone cards.

These items were collected from parishioners during a food drive organised by the parish recently.

Rev. Fr. Lennie Connully, Parish priest of St Mary’s Catholic Church, said, “There can be no better way to commemorate the Year of Zayed than by honouring these fathers on the occasion of International Father’s Day.”
