DUBAI The Concept Big Brands Carnival is back in Dubai, with Bollywood stars Jackie Shroff and Chunky Pandey opening the grand show on Wednesday morning. Running till April 1 at the Shaikh Rashid Hall in the Dubai World Trade Centre, it hosts over 300 brands that are offering discounts of up to 80 per cent.

Kamal Lalwani, general manager of the Concept Brands Group, told XPRESS the carnival, which has had over 55 sales so far, is a huge hit with shoppers for many reasons.

“What is different about this sale is that shoppers get the feel of walking into a big departmental store where they are able to pick up stuff of different retail brands and pay for it at a centralised cash counter,” he said.

He said this week’s CBBC will have 30 cash counter tills for a retail area of 6,000 square metres, which means shoppers don’t have to worry about long queues while paying their bills. “We also have separate lines for cash payments and purchases of less than five items.” He said top brands are offering up to 80 per cent discounts and the price points of some items could be as low as Dh5 or Dh2.

“In the past, we have seen a footfall of 15,000 people per day, this year will be no different,” he added. Among the brands that will be present are Hugo Boss, Carolina Herrera, Bourjois, New Look, ALDO, Raymond Weil, D&G, GUESS, Birkenstock, Calvin Klein and Aeropostale.
