Did you think you would win the competition when you signed up for it?

Not really. It was overwhelming to compete with 100 other kids, some of them older than me. [Ayesha is nine years old.] This is the first time I have participated in a competition and won it.

What dishes did you prepare for the final rounds?

I prepared flying Chicki saucers for the semi-final round and chicken Rolland with quinoa on the side for the final round.

Did you practise cooking before the final round?

Yes, I prepared the chicken Rolland with quinoa at least four times before making it on the final day

Do you often cook at home?

Yes, I love cooking. I always help my mom in the kitchen and I’ve learnt most of it from her. I make sandwiches, pizzas, omelettes as well as help my mother when she is baking.

When did you cook for the first time and what was it?

I began cooking at the age of four. I made a mixed vegetable omelette all by myself when I was five years old and my parents were very impressed.

Do you want to be a chef when you grow up?

Yes, absolutely. I am also writing a recipe book that will be published by the end of this year. The recipes are easy and aimed at kids who are of my age.

Who is your inspiration?

My mother. She cooks very delicious food. I always stand by her side to see what ingredients she uses.
