Dubai: Old School Boys team carried the discipline they imbibed during their school days into cricket, especially in the bowling department, to defeat Dubai Mammoths in the final of the Dubai Cricket Council’s Summer League at the Dubai International Stadium last week.

Man of the Match Mubeen Hussain, with an accurate spell of three for 11 backed by Zeeshan Akmal (2 for 16), Fawad Ghafoor (2 for 23) and Mohammad Ibtisham (2 for 35) restricted Dubai Mammoths to 134 in 23.1 overs.

Barely had openers Ranjeet Chavan (9) and best batsman of the tournament Sheridan Hadfield (11) settled down when Mubeen dismissed both the openers. One-down batsman Lucky Abbas saw his stumps go cartwheeling to a delivery from Mubeen.

Sujit Salian (17) and Ambey Parwatkar repaired the innings to an extent with a 50-run partnership and Kapil Gandhi gave the Mammoths bowlers something to defend when he threw his bat around for some quick 37 runs from 22 balls (4x6, 1x4).

Chasing a target of 135, Burhan Naseem flogged the Mammoths bowlers to crack 56 from 39 balls which was laced with 10 boundaries to make it look like a one-sided match. Harsh Chaturvedi (29 not out) and Mohammad Ibtisham (17 not out) ensured that Old School Boys reached the target in 18.1 overs. Lucky bagged two wickets for Mammoths.
