Dubai: One of the most frequent questions popped before Satish Seemar is about his famed Reynaldothewizard.

Now 12, and just one year away from the mandatory retirement age, Reynaldothewizard will line up as one of the favourites for the Dubai Golden Shaheen sponsored by Gulf News.

“Whenever this question is asked, I say it is up to the horse to decide. As long as he is healthy, happy and sound and, as long as he can run, he can have all the fun,” trainer Satish Seemar told media on Monday.

“The legal age is 13 as per our system. So honestly, it is finally left up to him [Reynaldothewizard],” he added.

Seemar admitted that there have been offers for Reynaldothewizard to race elsewhere, including Africa. “He is an old boy and he needs the sun. If a vote is taken from among our 142 staffers, then he would be right here. He is not your cuddly horse. He is thorough professional. He does his job and then just walks away just like a total professional,” Seemar said.

“He is not your pony horse. When you see him sleep, it’s like him being in the clouds and that’s very much his personality,” he added.
