Dubai: Al Ain coach Zoran Mamic said he and the team will redouble their efforts after renewing his contract with the club until the end of next season.
Doubts surrounded Mamic’s future at Al Ain after he was sentenced to four years and 11 months in jail for corruption in his native Croatia last week. However, he made a statement to say he would fight the ruling and continue to manage the club, while proving his innocence. The ruling isn’t final until after the appeal process.
“Our goal now is to be better than last season,” said Mamic, who won the league and cup double with Al Ain last season, but got knocked out in the Last 16 of the Asian Champions League. “It’s not good to lose, but we have achieved exceptional results and a historic achievements last season and we shouldn’t ignore that. We have benefited from the loss and will redouble our efforts to become stronger next season,” he added.
