Dubai: Founded in 2003 as part of the Dubai Women Establishment by Shaikha Manal Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wife of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Dubai Ladies Club’s (DLC) mission is to create an oasis where modern women can develop their interests and talents, in the fields of arts, sport, fashion, philanthropy or business.

The place is a one-stop destination for enhancing and encouraging new skills and awareness among women in the UAE. The club’s objective is to help national women realise their potential and, as a result, contribute to an ever-changing, dynamic and modern society.

Successfully combining luxury with learning, modernity with tradition, local with global, the club has developed and become a powerhouse of cultural exchange, debate and recreation for women of all ages and nationalities.

The club’s world-class facilities and services include a dedicated Art Centre, a Childcare Centre, fully equipped Fitness Centre and the five-star Moroccan Style Al Asalla Spa. The club also offers a long list of programmes, events and activities which will help nurture and nourish spiritual well-being of every woman.

The tranquil atmosphere that envelopes the Club is further enhanced by its exquisite location overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches in Dubai.

“We want the Dubai Ladies Club to be the meeting point for women across the country. We want it to be a hub in the true sense of the word,” Lamia Abdul Aziz Khan, Deputy Chairperson, Women’s Sports Committee at DSC, DLC Director and Chairperson of the organising committee, told Gulf News.

“We are hoping to have at least 300 women participate in this week’s triathlon and this will be the start for many more such events in the future.”
