Canoe slalom (sometimes called Kayak slalom) takes place on a steep-routed river for a length of 250m.

The idea is simply to complete the course in the fastest time. The course will feature powerful water rapids, eddies and swirls as well various obstacles.

In the single and double canoe events, competitors use single-bladed paddles, while in the single kayak events double-bladed paddles are used. Each canoe slalom event starts with heats.

Competitors will tackle the course twice, with the best result from the two races determining who qualifies for the semi-finals. Semi-finals and finals will consist of only one race each.

When: Sunday August 7 to Thursday August 11 Competition: Four events will award medals: three for men and one for women.
