Fort Worth: Dubai-born racing driver Ed Jones finished ninth in round nine of the 17-stage Indy Car Series in Texas on Saturday.
The 23-year-old Englishman, who won Rookie of the Year last season, is now 12th in the standings with five top-10 finishes, including two podiums.
Starting from 13th on the grid, the Chip Ganassi driver fell back to 20th after an early pit stop and then worked his way up to seventh towards the end, before a penalty for jumping a restart saw him drop back to ninth.
“It was a tough race, but considering the issues we had, I think we should be pleased to come away with ninth,” said Jones, who complained of balance issues.
“I’m very happy with the recent results we’ve achieved, but we know there remains more to be done to elevate us to the next level.”
Jones’ teammate Scott Dixon got the second win of his season in this race and is now top of the standings. The next race is in Wisconsin on June 24.
