Abu Dhabi: Al Hanaei sisters will be in full force at the Jiu-Jitsu World Pro starting on Monday. All three — Maha, Mahra, and Hana are leaving no stones unturned to ensure they are among the medals.

The eldest, Maha has her task cut out as she will be competing in the adult blue belt category where the competition is expected to be fierce.

Though she has been impressive in the tournament at home this season, she is yet to taste success at international events.

“I have been working hard since graduating to the adult category. It is going to be tough but I’m confident of doing well. Will try and give my very best,” said the 18-year-old.

Mahra, on the other hand, is on a roll in the juvenile blue belt category. She has won gold in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour in London, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro.

Another impressive performance for gold came in the Aspirants tournament in Abu Dhabi.

“It has been a good season so far but I want to do well as this is the 10th edition of the tournament. I have been training every day and want to do really well in front of home fans,” said Mahra adding that the tournament will be a perfect springboard to the Asian Games in Jakarta in August.

“Yes, very much and for most of us the focus is Asian Games. This is a perfect tournament to know where you stand and to know which areas I need to improve on. Home fans support will also be there and everyone will be looking to do well,” revealed the 16-year-old.

Hana made her international debut this season and she straightaway tasted success with a gold at the Jiu-Jitsu international Federation’s World Championship for aspirants and Juniors.

“I have been working hard and trying to keep my weight in check ahead of the event. Very much confident of doing well in front of our home fans,” said the 14-year-old.
