Sharjah: An electric 151 from opener Abdul Shakoor helped Afridi Cricket Club to a big win against ECB Greens in the fourth Al Dhaid Ramadan Cricket Tournament on Sunday evening.

Played under lights at Al Dhaid Cricket Village, ECB were all at sea as they lost by 71 runs in the face of a blistering assault by Shakoor.

After winning the toss and batting, Afridi CC’s Shakoor plundered 11 fours and as many sixes on his way to a brilliant 151 off just 69 balls.

Hashmat Khan contributed for Afridi CC as well, hitting a quick-fire 29 from 17 balls to see his team finish on a mammoth 222 for 7 from their 20 overs.

For ECB Greens, Dan DeSouza and Chirag Suri took two wickets each, but cost 93 runs in the seven overs bowled between them.

ECB Greens started well, with Hamid Pathan (28) and Moaz Kazi (28) finding the boundary ropes with ease. But two wickets each from Sajid Ali and Khan Mohammad Afridi pegged their innings back.

In the end, Shakoor’s innings proved to be the deciding factor as ECB played out their 20 overs and ended on a respectable 151-8.
