Dubai: Virat Kohli, India’s star batsman and regular captain, continues to hog the limelight even when he is away from the field for the Asia Cup.
Close on the heels of his selection as the Rajiv Khel Ratna awardee alongwith weightlifter Mirbai Chanu, Kohli has left his fans in a tizzy by posting an image of what he called ‘Trailer: The Movie’ on his official social media account.
A super hero like image of Kohli, who is seen wearing clothes from his brand Wrogn apparel, could be an upcoming advertisement or a short film but his caption read, “Another debut after 10 years, can’t wait! #TrailerTheMovie http://www.trailerthemovie.com”. The poster is titled “Introducing Virat Kohli, Trailer: The movie” says that the release date is September 28.
While no other details are forthcoming, the project is set to clash with his wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma’s movie ‘Sui Dhaaga: Made In India’. The real life couple, incidentally, was an instant hit with their combined campaign of ‘Manyavaar,’ a clothesline which specialises on ethnic Indian clothing.
Kohli was rested after an 84-day tour of England where he emerged as top run-getter with 593 runs in five Tests.
Meanwhile, Kohli found an unexpected admirer in Australian football icon Tim Cahill, the marquee signing for Jamshedpur FC in the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL).
The former Everton FC striker said he follows Kohli in various social media platforms as he considers the ace batsman to be a “good example of a sportsman”.
“In Australia, the all time favourite legend from the Indian cricket team is Sachin Tendulkar. It is without a shadow of a doubt. But now it is obviously Virat Kohli because I like his background story of how he has achieved what he is today,” Cahill told reporters on the sidelines of the ISL media day in Kolkata.
“He works hard, he is humble, he sacrifices a lot and he is committed but I also like the way he gives back so much to the Indian people off the park, both emotionally and charitably. So I follow him on the social networks. He is a good example,” he added.
