Dubai: Dubai has been granted the hosting rights of ninth 2019 World Para Athletics Championships from November 7-15 next year, which will see nearly 1300 athletes from over 100 countries take part.
The last World Para Athletics championships were held in London with more than 1,150 athletes from 90 countries competing at the London Stadium, venue of the 2012 Paralympic Games.
The next championships will take place at the new athletics stadium of the Dubai Club for People of Determination and will be run under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council. (Staff Report)
