Dubai: Police from across the emirates took to social media on Thursday morning to alert motorists over heavy mist and fog that blanketed the UAE’s roads.

Thick fog especially affected Abu Dhabi’s Madinat Mohammad Bin Zayed, Madinat Shakbout and the islands, the area near Dubai and Sharjah airports, as well as in Ras Al Khaimah.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) posted online videos of the fog in Al Ain that affected various roads in the early morning.

A video also showed the heavy fog as it covered the roads in Madinat Mohammad Bin Zayed.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), poor visibility was reported down to less than 500m, and expects the weather for the rest of the day to be cloudy and partly hazy.

In its daily weather forecast, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said that northwesterly winds will be generally between 10-20km/h, but may extend up to 30km/h at times.

“The weather will be fair to partly cloudy weather, and hazy at times with light to mild winds,” said the NCM.

The temperature, according to the NCM, will range from 12-25C in coastal areas, 10-27C in internal areas, and 8-18C in the mountain region.
