Some scattered showers are forecast in parts of the country this week so keep your umbrellas handy.

“We expect light rain in general over the island and maybe some parts along the coast extending to the northern part of the UAE on Monday night and Tuesday morning. But the chance is weak,” a forecaster from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) told Gulf News.

“Some clouds are approaching the UAE from the west, and clouds are developing over the Arabian Gulf. There is also an extension of a low pressure in the upper air. All these are affecting our weather and some of these clouds could develop into rain clouds.”

March is a transition period between winter and spring, characterised by the presence of pressure systems that cause abrupt changes in the weather.

Residents may enjoy partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with a chance of rain and a fall in temperatures, over the western areas on Tuesday.

By Wednesday, mist may form over internal areas in the morning but the weather will become partly cloudy gradually.

Forecasters expect light to moderate rain beginning Wednesday over western islands by evening with moderate Northwesterly to Northerly wind, freshening at times over sea during day time. The chance of scattered showers may extend to Thursday and Friday.

Fresh southwesterly may cause sand to and visibility to deteriorate to 2,000metres on Thursday and Friday.
