Dubai: Police on Tuesday issued a weather warning to motorists as a blanket of thick fog brought down visibility on the roads to only 80 metres.

Police urged drivers to exercise caution on highways and major roads, including the area of Saih Shuaib, along Emirates Road after Al Qudra Bridge and on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ) Road in the direction of Abu Dhabi.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), fog and mist mainly affected Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

The minimum temperature on Tuesday will be 20-29 degrees Celsius in coastal and internal areas, and a low of 22-29 degrees Celsius in the mountain area.

However, the level of humidity will peak at 95 per cent across coastal and internal areas until Tuesday, bringing temperatures to reach up to 44 degrees Celsius.

Clouds are expected to form over some eastern parts of the country, becoming convective at times during the afternoon.

Strong southwesterly-northwesterly winds will blow across the country at a speed of up to 32 km/h at times, bringing in cooler air especially during the afternoon, and making the waves in the Arabian Gulf rough by the afternoon.

Over the next two days, the chance of fog and mist is expected to increase at night and into the early morning over some coastal and internal areas.
