Abu Dhabi:  Amidst possible air strikes on Syria, UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, (GCAA) calls on national carriers operating flights to countries close to Syria to take precautionary measures

The GCAA, said it was closely monitoring the recent events with regards to the possibility of launching air strikes on Syria and its impact on airports in the Syrian border or neighbouring countries, which the UAE national carriers operate to and from.

Saif Mohammad Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, said that:'' The GCAA is in close coordination with the concerned authorities in the State and the national carriers, in dealing with the current situation at the moment and in accordance with the changes taking place.'' '' The Authority will take appropriate action in the event there is any threat against the safety and security of civil aviation,'' he added in a statement.
