Dubai: Continuing its support to the people of determination, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has adopted a policy to donate wheelchairs to the needy every month.
The RTA kicked off the initiative this month by receiving 10 people of determination at its offices and donating wheelchairs to each of them.
The gesture, which is made in coordination with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), is part of the RTA’s efforts to support the UAE’s ‘Year of Giving’ initiative, as well as supporting the Dubai Government’s ‘My community… A City for Everyone’ initiative recently launched in the RTA.
As a policy, the RTA designs all its services taking into consideration the needs of the people of determination.
“The RTA has configured all its transit means, be it public buses, metro, taxicabs or marine transit modes, to enhance the accessibility to people of determination. It has also upgraded its website to make it accessible to these community members who can now browse it and submit applications,” said an RTA spokesperson.
