Ajman will see 50 hybrid electric Toyota Prius operating as taxis as apart of its Arabia Taxi fleet.
The new fleet of eco-friendly vehicles was rolled out on Monday in a joint venture between Al Futtaim Toyota and Arabia Holdings Group.
The move is part of the emirate’s effort to comply with the UAE Vision 2021’s environmental targets and adopting sustainable mobility solutions.
The roll-out will make Ajman the first city in the UAE to have Prius in its taxi fleet.
Based on the average life of a taxi in the UAE, with is around 850,000km of operation, each of Prius taxis is expected to save around 7.65 tons of CO2.
