Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Police have urged owners of recovery vehicles in the emirate to abide by the instructions on new standards issued by the police which aim to enhance safe driving and traffic safety on the roads.
The deadline to amend the vehicle structure as per the new specifications ended on Saturday and the police would start taking action against non-compliant vehicles from Sunday, police said in a press release.
Colonel Saif Salem Al Mazroui, director of Licensing and Vehicles Department in Al Dhafra, said the required modifications for the recovery vehicles include the installation of safe rear bumpers, high-quality rubber guards, warning triangles, reflective phosphorescent sticker, the orange warning light, and a warning alarm.
The new specifications will contribute to improving the efficiency of the recovery vehicles.
The owners who do not abide by the new standards will attract a fine up to Dh2,000, 23 black points and 60 days of confiscation of the vehicle.
Abu Dhabi Police had given more than a year [from July 1, 2017 to July 21, 2018] to owners to meet the new requirements.
