Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have announced that new registration procedures for light trailers will start being implemented from Sunday in an effort to improve and meet road safety standards for vehicles and trailers.

Colonel Saif Al Za’abi, director of Vehicle Licensing, said the owners of trailers without an identification number should visit the Emirates Transport inspection centres in order to obtain one, as well as to register their trailer and to have it inspected to ensure that it meets all road safety regulations.

He added that the registration and inspection would cost Dh570, with the obtained licence and registration being valid for three years.

Owners who fail to register and license their trailers can face fines up to Dh1,000.
