Sharjah: Sharjah Police on Wednesday announced a grace period for motorists who have failed to renew their vehicles’ registration for a long period of time.

Police said they would cancel the late fees starting July 5.

The grace period will last until November 6.

Lieutenant-Colonel Hamid Saeed Al Jallaf, deputy director of the police’s Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, said the move is part of an initiative of Sharjah Police in cooperation with Enoc.

Motorists can avail the services either through the Ministry of Interior (MoI) app in order to save time and effort or directly approaching Tasjeel Auto Village in Sharjah.

Lt-Col Al Jallaf said the initiative is part of the Sharjah Police’s efforts to improve the standard of services provided to the public and to achieve the goal of the Ministry of Interior to make the roads in the UAE safer and enhance customer satisfaction.

The initiative includes draws for several valuable awards to be presented to customers during the four-month grace period.
