Abu Dhabi: An additional 3,424 paid parking bays have been introduced in the capital, the Department of Transport’s parking division, Mawaqif, announced in a statement on Saturday.

The new parking bays located in four sectors will become paid from Sunday, the statement added.

In Sector E41, there will be 1,547 parking spaces. The sector is located in the area that is bordered by Miskani Street in the north, Sultan Bin Zayed the First Street in the south, Dhafeer Street in the east and Rabdan Street in the west.

In Sector W11, located in the area bordered by Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street in the north, Sultan Bin Zayed the First Street in the south, Al Falah Street in the east and Zayed the First Street in the west, there are 905 new parking bays.

Sector W36, which is bordered by Al Jazza Street in the north, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Street in the south, Mileih Street in the east and Zayed the First Street in the west, has 254 parking spaces.

And there will be 728 new parking spaces in Sector W39, which is bordered by Al Bateen Street in the north, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Street in the east, Al Yasat Street in the south and Mileih Street in the west.

Mohammad Al Muhairi, deputy general manager of the department’s Integrated Transport Centre, said the implementation of paid parking in these areas is expected to ease congestion and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
