Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 250 licensing plates in its forthcoming 50th online auction on August 20.

Plates on offer comprise three, four and five digits under Code A, B, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, and T. Registration of bidders starts at 8am this Sunday and will continue for five days. Interested parties are invited to register online for the auction.

Sultan Al Marzouqi, director of Vehicle Licensing at RTA’s Licensing Agency, said, “The wide participation of the public in the online or open auctions, and the positive competition to obtain numbers underscores the importance of these auctions in bringing happiness and satisfaction to customers.”

Registration process

Participation in the auction requires the client to have an account opened through the RTA’s website (www.rta.ae) or go to the New User link to obtain a Username and Password. For a new registration, the user is required to have a vehicle registered in Dubai or a driver licence issued from Dubai.

For participating in the auction, the bidder is required to deposit a security cheque of Dh5,000 at one of RTA’s Customers Happiness Centres at Umm Al Ramool, Bur Dubai or Deira or the Al Twar Municipal Centre. In the case of payment by a credit card, the client must also deposit Dh5,000 as security. Clients will also have to pay Dh120 in participation fee through the website (www.rta.ae).

Al Marzouqi added: “The successful bidder has to pay the due amount within ten working days from the auction closing date by cash or credit card through centres of service providers or RTA’s Customer Happiness Centres. Cash payments are acceptable up to Dh50,000. For higher amounts, customers can make payments through a certified cheque or credit card, or pay online using a credit card too. Failure to clear due payments will result in the inclusion of the name of the bidder on a black list.”

A dedicated team at RTA’s Call Centre has been furnished with all information related to the auction, and stands ready to respond to any public inquiries relating to procedures of participation or payment through the toll-free number 8009090.
