Dubai: Dubai Municipality on Wednesday opened Al Mizhar 2 Park as part of the Plantation Week celebrations.

Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, director-general of Dubai Land Department, and Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality, inaugurated the park.

Spread over a total area of about 1.7 hectares, Al Mizhar 2 Park is one of the neighbourhood parks that serve the residents of the area. The park, constructed by the municipality at a cost of Dh6.3 million, has 0.88 hectare of landscaping.

It includes many recreational, sports and service facilities, including the main plaza, a 465-metre-long sandy running track, a 1,243-square-metre football ground, a volleyball court with solid ground and another one with sandy ground, and playgrounds for children aged two to five years and six to 12 years.

The park is home to 45 date palm trees, 103 decorative trees, 265 shrubs, 2,928 square metres of green patches, 4,106 square metres of covered soil, 44 square metres of gravel and 655 square metres of flowers.
