Dubai: Indian spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will visit the UAE to lead a yoga event in Fujairah and a two-day meditation master class in Dubai in November.

The founder of Art of Living Foundation (AOL) and International Association for Human Values (IAHV), Ravi Shankar has been invited to Fujairah on November 15 by the Ruler of Fujairah, Consul General of India in Dubai Vipul said at a press conference on Monday.

In a statement, the Fujairah Government said it was hosting the yoga celebration because of Fujairah’s belief in the deep-rooted Emirati values of tolerance and respect for cultural diversity, which are reflected in the nation’s lifestyle which promotes peace and anti-extremism.

“We hope that all our efforts are directed towards the successful organisation of this event which promotes the UAE’s work in achieving harmony and strengthening close connections between different cultures,” it added.

The master class in Dubai titled ‘Unveiling Infinity’, will be conducted in three sessions over November 16 and 17 at Dubai World Trade Centre, Vipul said.

Over 6,000 participants from UAE, GCC and other countries in the region will undertake the meditation sessions the tickets for which are priced at Dh1,000 and Dh3,000 for silver and gold categories.

The sessions will include powerful breathing techniques, meditation, yoga, and simple yet effective practical wisdom for daily living.

“About 5,000 seats are reserved in the Dh1,000 ticket category and the rest are reserved for the Dh3,000 ticket category. We also intend to reserve some seats for the labour class if we receive requests from relevant companies,” said Dharmendra Patel, project manager for the event and COO of IAHV.

With followers and volunteers across 156 countries, Ravi Shankar has touched the lives of 370 million people across the world, said Vinay Kapoor, member of the executive committee of the Dubai event.

The AOL Foundation’s message of peace and wellness is spread by 32,000 instructors across 12,000 of the centres worldwide, he added.
