Abu Dhabi: The Indian community in the UAE is mourning the loss of a prominent journalist, V.M. Sathish, who passed away on Wednesday night in an Ajman hospital following a heart attack.

The 54-year-old journalist had worked as a reporter with various English media outlets in Oman and the UAE for over two decades.

Expressing condolences to the family of the deceased, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Satish had always raised his voice and used his pen for the underprivileged in the society.

The body will be repatriated to Kottayam, his hometown in the South Indian State of Kerala, by Thursday evening and will be kept at Kottayam Press Club on Friday morning for the public to pay their last respects. The last rites will be conducted at his home on Friday afternoon.

Satish is survived by wife, a daughter and a son who are in India.
