Dubai: Four people were killed and three others suffered serious injuries after a pick-up truck crashed into the back of a lorry which then rammed another truck on Emirates Road on Thursday.

Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of traffic department at Dubai Police, told Gulf News that the accident took place in the afternoon.

“The driver of the pick-up hit the back of the lorry as he didn’t leave enough distance between the vehicles and the lorry hit another truck,” Brig Al Mazroui said.

The driver and three passengers of the pick-up died and three others travelling in the other two trucks suffered serious injuries. “They were airlifted to hospital.”

Brigadier Al Mazroui said the main reason behind the accident was not leaving safe distance by the pick-up driver and urged drivers to focus on the road.
