Dubai: The region’s largest-ever event on forensic science and forensic medicine will be held on April 2-4 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Emirates International Forensic Science Conference and Exhibition, organised in cooperation with the Dubai Police, will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Dubai Future Foundation.

With the theme of ‘Digital Forensic Science’, the conference aims to advance the field of forensic science and criminology in the region by bringing together experts from Asia, Africa, Europe and the American continent, said Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.

“The wise leadership gives forensic science its utmost attention. His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the new, high-tech premises of the General Department of Criminal Evidence and Criminology. His Highness commended this amazing technical achievement, which he described as a national scientific edifice for education and training for more than security purposes,” said Maj-Gen Al Merri.

The Dubai Police Headquarters, with all of its centres and departments, “has become a beacon of science, learning, training and the application of global educational programmes specialising in police legal sciences”.

Major-General Dr Ahmad Eid Al Mansouri, Director-General of police’s Forensic Science and Criminology Department, said, “This conference is one of the most prominent academic events, which will bring together experts from the East and the West [to] discuss the challenges faced in the field of criminology and forensic science.”

The exhibition will allow visitors to learn about the latest in forensic analysis of evidence, analysis of the crime scene, digital investigation, and latest laboratory equipment.

The event, which will have the participation of experts and investigators, will also cater to university students, giving them the opportunity to present their research papers through oral and poster presentations. They will also have the opportunity to participate in the Young Scientist Award Competition.
