Dubai: Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) has installed an automated cardiopulmonary resuscitation device in one of its ambulances, which will later be rolled out on all of its emergency vehicles.
Emergency officials said that the initiative to install the technology would contribute to saving lives and helping patients who suffer from heart and other chronic diseases.
Talib Ghuloom, Director of Operation Department at DCAS said the chances of saving someone’s life from a heart attack depends on the first person who witnesses the incident.
“There is a chance every person can face a heart attack for one reason or the other. For every minute that passes by, it can reduce their chances of survival. So, time is of essence and it can mean life or death,” he said.
Dr Omar Al Sakkaf, Director of Medical and Technical Affairs, DCAS, explained that the brain and heart of a patient will not be able to survive without enough oxygen and blood for more than six minutes.
