Abu Dhabi: The UAE Cabinet has approved on Wednesday the new board of directors for Shaikh Zayed Housing Programme.

The moves comes as part of the ongoing government efforts to develop the work of federal government and modernize its institutions and teams.

The new Board will be chaired by Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development.

The board  members include Jaber Mohammad Ghanim Al Suwaidi, Ali Khalifa Ali Mohammad Al Muhairi, Abdul Rahman Mohammad Rashid Al Shard, Walid Ali Mohammad Bin Falah Al Mansouri, Anwar Mohammad Ali Al Shammri, Hamad Abdullah Bin Ghalaita, Sultan Bin Rashid Al Kharji, Jamal Saif Al Jarwan and Mohammad Saeed Abdullah Al Dhahnani.

The Shaikh Zayed Housing Program was set up in 1999 in line with the vision of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan to institutionalize the housing issue in the UAE in order to keep pace with the population growth and the development of the lifestyle witnessed by the UAE society.

Since its establishment, the programme has succeeded in issuing some 59,000 housing support decisions worth Dh32 billion in various emirates in form of loans and grants, and varied between building a new dwelling and maintaining a house or other projects. The programme also established more than 30, 000 dwellings, while 29,000 others are still under construction.
