Dubai: Does Dubai have a place where children can connect with Nature, hang by the branches of trees, watch waterfalls and be one with their surroundings? Now it does. In the heart of Dubai, is the new XPark Jr, a playscape that is designed like a real forest, with trees, streams, waterfalls and climbing nets.

In a city where it’s hot most time of the year and it is hard to find shaded and safe play spaces outdoors, the new playscape’s natural environment aims to encourage children to enjoy climbing ropes, wooden forts, and around trees and streams.

Mohammad Javad, General Manager of XDubai told Gulf News: “Albert Einstein once said ‘Playing is the highest form of research’, in line with his words, we are encouraging little ones to join us and use this unique playscape to learn while having fun.”

XPark Jr will be open to public starting Thursday, March 8, and is open for children aged between 1 to 12. This is XDubai’s second foray into the development of community spaces, after the XDubai Kite Beach Skatepark, an action sports park at Kite Beach.

Along with the play area of the park, XPark Jr will also offer the Urban Forest School Programme, which aims to connect school and nursery children with Nature through structured group visits to XPark Jr and activities that include free play, den building, arts and crafts, campfire building, studying small animals and plant life and enjoying a small snack.

The park also includes a petting zoo, with a pony, rabbits and chicks.

The timings for the park will be from 8am to 6pm, Sunday to Wednesday and 8am to 8pm, Thursday to Saturday, with entry priced at Dh45 per child and one adult for two hours of free-play. Additional hours of play are Dh25 per hour and children under 1 year of age enter free of charge.
