Sharjah: A group of women from  Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the two Telugu states of South India, paid a rich tribute to their Chaalbaaz superstar Chandni, Roop ki Rani and Atiloka Sundari in a fitting manner attired in saris, the preferred drape of Sridevi.

These women - who call themselves Istha Sakhulu, which means close friends - mostly meet indoors for their monthly gatherings. Today, however, they chose Thousand Palms at Buhaira Corniche in Sharjah, turning up in colourful outfits.

Though they have yet to reconcile to the fact that doyenne of Indian cinema is no more, they 'celebrated' the memory of the matinee idol with an antakshari [game of songs]  hit songs from Sridevi's Bollywood and Telugu movies.

Also in the spirit of the Indian spring festival Holi they smeared each other with bright colour powders.

Mythili Sarath and Lakshmi Reddy praised Sridevi as a loving mother of two beautiful daughters, ideal wife and a role model for upcoming actors.
