Ajman: Thumbay Dental Hospital opened at Thumbay Medicity in Al Jurf, Ajman, on Tuesday.
The health care group said the development marks the first private dental hospital in the UAE and the largest academic dental hospital in the Middle East region’s private sector.
Professor Hossam Hamdy, chancellor of Gulf Medical University (GMU) in Ajman, was the chief guest of the inaugural function, presided by Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group.
With a built-up area of 37,000 square feet and 60 dental chairs spread across three floors, the hospital has caregivers from 25 different nationalities, capable of serving patients in 50 different languages.
The hospital also trains the students of the undergraduate and proposed postgraduate courses of the College of Dentistry, GMU. Being an academic hospital, the doctors there are also academicians.
The hospital offers services and treatments in general dentistry, endodontics, paedodontics, periodontics, invisalign, veneers and lumineers, dentures, crowns and bridges, simple and complicated extractions and Hollywood Smile.
Specialised services also include implants, orthodontics, lasers and endodontic microscopes, cosmetic dentistry, treatment for facial pain, complicated oral surgeries and sleep apnoea.
The hospital has an in-house dental lab for dental prosthesis. It also features dedicated CSSD (central sterile services department) for infection control. The hospital is also open on Fridays.
The hospital also plans to introduce stem cell treatment for dental diseases. A ‘Dental Stem Cell Bank’ for harvesting/banking dental stem cells is planned at the hospital.
The hospital also has the Marhaba lounge for personalised services to patients by fast-tracking registration, consultation, examination, diagnosis, procedures, documentation, and billing.

Also, a 500-bed academic hospital and a rehabilitation centre are in the final stages of completion at Thumbay Medicity, slated to open shortly.
