Khartoum: Emirati ground forces units on Thursday arrived at Port Sudan naval base on the Red Sea to participate in the second phase of joint military exercise between the UAE and Sudanese land forces.

Code-named ‘Coasts Heroes 1’, the exercise will run until December 15. It comes as part of a series of exercises and training between the UAE Armed Forces and other counterparts of friendly countries.

The exercise aims to enhance the UAE-Sudanese cooperation and exchange expertise in military fields as well as boost the combat capabilities and military alert to face the challenges going on in the region. It also aims to step up the level of coordination between both countries’ armed forces.

The exercise will see both countries’ forces being trained in the latest advanced military training systems and combat theories. It will also include a number of joint exercises and tactical manoeuvres in accordance with the sequence of training activities within the operational readiness development plans, as well as the exchange of expertise with the Sudanese armed forces to achieve the goals set by the two countries.

The first phase of Coasts Heroes 1 exercise kicked off last Sunday.
