Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the Dubai International Airport to review the flow of passenger traffic, and inspect the facilities provided to them.

Shaikh Mohammad began his tour at the departures hall at Terminal 3 where he stopped at Emirates airline’s check-in counters, baggage-screening facilities, passport counters and Dubai Duty Free.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, accompanied Shaikh Mohammad during the visit.

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group was also present during the tour.

Shaikh Mohammad also visited Concourse B then took an internal train to Concourse A. He also visited the business and first class lounges where he was briefed about the services provided to Emirates passengers.

During the visit, Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs — Dubai, about the steady increase in the number of passengers using Dubai International Airport.

“The number of passengers coming to the UAE through Dubai International Airport increased by three per cent in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period of 2017 which reached 13 million passengers,” Al Merri said.

Al Merri added that the number of Chinese passengers coming to the country increased by five per cent in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period of 2017 which reached 450,000 passengers,

Shaikh Mohammad concluded his tour by visiting the arrival hall where he was briefed about the working of customs, police and security officials.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed the importance of welcoming UAE guests with a smiling face and welcoming words that reflect the authenticity of our people and their noble Islamic and Arab ethics.

He also expressed satisfaction over the high-end services being provided to passengers by all relevant authorities at Dubai International Airport.

“Our priorities are centred on human beings, their happiness, respect and the preservation of their rights and dignity, regardless of their nationality, religion, sect and culture. Human beings are the highest noble creatures they must be respected,” Shaikh Mohammad said.
