Abu Dhabi, Dubai: The UAE leaders on Wednesday paid rich tributes to the fallen heroes as the nation prepared to observe Commemoration Day on Thursday.

In their messages to armed forces magazine Nation Shield, the leaders said the UAE will never forget sacrifices of the martyrs. “Because we are a nation that treasures the value of sacrifice and never forgets those who devoted their lives and offered their precious blood to keep the nation’s flag flying high,” said President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said.

The President said that the families of the martyrs that they will continue to receive full support of the nation. 

In his message, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said Commemoration Day is an occasion to pay homage to the bravery of those who have sacrificed their very lives in the line of duty, defending the sovereignty of their nation.

“The UAE’s martyrs have set a magnificent example of sacrifices that entrust us with a great responsibility to preserve our unity and become more committed and dedicated to continue the drive of evolving our beloved homeland.”

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said: “Nations are built on the shoulders of the citizens and thrive on their love, loyalty, determination and sacrifices. There is no greater sacrifice than that of those who offer their own lives for their country. The more this spirit prevails, the stronger the country becomes.”
