Abu Dhabi: A number of Indian media outlets have highlighted the UAE’s significant response in providing aid for the victims of floods that have swept the Indian state of Kerala recently.

‘The Economic Times’, an English-language daily, said that the UAE leadership under the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, have directed urgent aid to be sent for the victims.

The newspaper cited a number of tweets by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid, which said: “The people of Kerala have always been and are still part of our success story in the UAE. We have a special responsibility to help and support those affected, especially during this holy and blessed days (of Eid Al Adha).”

‘The News Minute’, ‘India Today’ and ‘The Indian Express’ also shed extensive light on the UAE’s rapid response to the disaster, noting that the country’s policy stems from the long-standing humanitarian legacy of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Kerala in India is currently witnessing huge floods, the most devastating in a century, after an unprecedented amount of rainfall this monsoon. More than 300 people have been killed and hundreds of thousands have been displaced.
