Dubai: Dubai Municipality has handed over a cheque for Dh20,000 to the UAE Red Crescent Society as its Eid gift.

The cash cheque was handed over by the Charity Initiatives and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team of the Goodwill Ambassadors Team of the Municipality, the civic body said in a press release issued on Monday.

The move is part of the Municipality’s Year of Giving and CSR initiatives, which are being drawn up by the Goodwill Ambassadors Team, the municipality said. It said the team is looking at benefits the members of society at all levels can receive.

Khalid Mohammad Badri, director of Corporate Marketing and Relations Department and Head of the Charity Initiatives and CSR team said that the Eid gift is one of the major philanthropic and humanitarian programmes within Dubai Municipality’s initiatives for the Year of Giving.

“The amount, which is handed over to the UAE Red Crescent Society, will be distributed during Eid Al Adha to the orphans and needy families registered with the Red Crescent to ensure that these orphans, families and their children receive their needs in order to bring joy to the hearts of everyone during Eid,” he said.
