Dubai: The Dubai Executive Council’s Infrastructure and Environmental committee has held a meeting in which they discussed the comprehensive study of the infrastructure of the Business Bay project.

During Tuesday's meeting chaired by Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and Executive Director of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and Chairman of the committee, the committee discussed the report related to the study.

The report stated that a work team was formed to carry out the study comprising Dubai Municipality, Department of Finance, Land Department, Dubai Properties Group, Dewa , RTA, and other bodies. The study is expected to provide support to decision-makers so they can support this project and achieve maximum benefit from it.

The study covers various aspects of the project, such as infrastructure, water channel, transport, sewage and drainage system, road lighting, telecommunication and cooling.

Al Tayer stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination between all relevant parties to carry out this vital project.

The Business Bay Project is a real estate development project covering an area of 43,074,073 million square feet, and is expected to serve 200,000 people upon completion.

The committee then reviewed the second half report of 2012 which highlighted the achievements of governmental departments in 2011 in the field of infrastructure and environment, which aims to enhance sustainable development and the global position of Dubai as a financial, business and tourism hub as per Dubai’s Staretgy for 2015.
