Dubai: Dubai Municipality has begun the maintenance work of seven mosques in the city of Kalba in Sharjah, which were built by late Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality on Sunday said that the work is undergoing based on the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
He said Shaikh Mohammad has approved Dhs7.5 million for the general maintenance of these mosques in order to complement the role and methods of the late Shaikh Rashid in charitable and humanitarian work such as building mosques, schools and orphanages in various places inside and outside the country.
“These concepts and values that were adopted by late Shaikh Rashid will remain firmly in us and we must continue with that and transfer that tradition to our children and our future generations,” Lootah said in a press release.
He added that the Municipality will implement the project of maintenance and improvement of these mosques in accordance with the best specifications and engineering standards.
Jabir Ahmad Al Ali, director of General Maintenance Department, said that the Municipality has coordinated with the officials of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai to prepare the scope of work for the maintenance of these mosques.
“We have developed a plan for carrying out comprehensive maintenance and improvements required for these mosques without affecting their daily operation and in accordance with the best practices applied in this field,” he said.
Al Ali added that the contractor of the project has already started to implement the work from November and according to the approved schedule all work on the project will be completed in September 2018.
