Dubai: In the latest ad for Volkswagen, the UAE’s desert and culture stole the spotlight.
With a love for fast cars and more importantly, falcons, this video has started circulating on UAE social networking sites because of the sheer speed involved in the fight of machines versus Mother Nature.
The video was posted on You Tube last Monday, named “The Chase,” and shows a Golf GTI Clubsport racing against a Peregrine falcon in the dunes of the desert.
The peregrine falcon is the fastest bird, and also the fastest animal on Earth, when in a dive. When diving, the majestic bird can steep at speeds of over 320km per hour.
The Clubsport, which can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 6.3 seconds, boasts a turbocharged 265 hp direct-injection engine, front wheel drive and Dynamic Chassis Control.
It reportedly outmanoeuvred the falcon due to a boost function that allows an increase in power to over 290 horse power for a short period of time.
