Abu Dhabi: The UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) on Monday invited the public to review and send their comments on the organisation’s latest draft radiation safety regulation.

FANR revised Regulation 04 for radiation dose limits and optimisation of radiation protection for nuclear facilities, which establishes the radiation dose limits that are relevant to a nuclear facility during its design, construction, and normal operation and decommissioning. The newly-revised regulation aims to be consistent with the radiation dose limits cited by FANR in accordance with the International Commission on Radiological Protection.

The draft regulation is available on the FANR website (www.fanr.gov.ae). Members of the public can send their comments by email to regulation@fanr.gov.ae for the next 30 days — May 15 to June 15. FANR said they will consider all comments before preparing the final draft.
