Abu Dhabi: On Emirati Women’s Day, Quest Arabiya is promoting two female climbers who aim to conquer the fifth of the seven highest mountains in the world, bringing them a step closer to their ultimate objective of scaling the seven summits.
Having already scaled the highest peak in north America, Hanady Al Hashemi has now set her sights on scaling Oceania’s highest mountain — the 4,888-metre high Cartensz Pyramid.
Al Hashemi will be joined by Lebanese female mountaineer Tima Deryan.
The women hope to complete the challenge between September 15 and 27.
Known for supporting adventure and enabling the region’s youth, Quest Arabiya, the Arabic-language factual entertainment channel, will be closely following the progress of the two mountaineers and the challenges they will overcome to make their dream come true. Their journey will be aired on the channels weekly magazine show Etla Barra.
“It is such a privilege to undertake this climb and do it in celebration of the Year of Zayed. We are two women who believe in challenging ourselves and recognise the power and need for self-belief, tolerance and ambition when climbing, all of which are Shaikh Zayed and the UAE’s values,” Al Hashemi said.
