Dubai: Dawood Al Hajiri, director general of Dubai Municipality has issued an administrative decision to form a committee for the development of residential neighbourhoods in Dubai, the civic body announced on Thursday.

The committee will look into the improvement of the level of municipal services in the residential neighbourhoods by enhancing the amenities, service locations, recreational, beautification and heritage sites, it said in a press release.

The decision is in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide citizens with a decent living environment and to provide them with the right accommodation options that will meet their needs and ensure their families the comfort and stability of their neighbourhoods. It is also part of achieving the vision of Dubai Municipality to develop a happy and sustainable city.

Al Hajiri stated that the formation of the committee aims at exploring the future needs of the residential neighbourhoods throughout Dubai.

This is expected to contribute to the continuous development process to achieve the happiness of the community and expand the umbrella of comfort and prosperity.

This will also ensure the availability of the means of amenities and facilities in the residential neighbourhoods, especially for the categories of elderly and the people of determination.

The plans will aim at meeting all their needs and focusing on increasing the green areas and organising the cultivated sites in those neighbourhoods.

Al Hajiri added that the committee’s tasks will be reflected in the preparation of an integrated study on the development of residential neighbourhoods, including the development of a plan to implement the project quickly and adopt all creative ideas that enrich its objectives.

He said that the development of new and existing residential areas for citizens to attract residents and meet their needs will be a priority that Dubai Municipality will plan to implement directly with other government agencies concerned.

Al Hajiri added that the Municipality will also open its channels of communication to residents to participate with their proposals for the development of their areas.
