Dhaid: Eid revelry for a group of friends ended up in tragedy after one of them died when their car overturned in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday.

Police identified the deceased as Indian national Hatib Haris Abdullah.

A relative told Gulf News that Hatib, 23, had gone with his friends to celebrate Eid Al Fitr in Khor Fakkan. Four of his friends, who were injured in the accident, are undergoing treatment in Al Dhaid Hospital, he said.

“They travelled in two cars. I don’t know what exactly happened. The guys in the first car heard the sound of a crash and when they looked back, they saw the other car overturning. Hatib was thrown out of the car,” he said.

Police said he was rushed to Al Dhaid Hospital around 7.40pm on Saturday. Ras Al Khaimah police is investigating the case as the accident took place on Al Dhaid — Kadra road which is in the emirate, an official said.

Hatib had been working with a real estate company in Sharjah for one-and-a-half-year.

His body was flown to his hometown in Kasargod in the south Indian state of Kerala on Sunday night.

His father Haris Abdullah Thalangara, who works in Ajman, accompanied the body, the relative said. Hatib’s mother and two younger sisters live in Kerala.
